Remote directory

If you have a phone provisioned with XiVO and its one of the supported ones, you’ll be able to search in your XiVO directory and place call directly from your phone.

See the list of supported devices to know if a model supports the XiVO directory or not.

Configuration

For the remote directory to work on your phones, the first thing to do is to go to the Services ‣ IPBX ‣ (General settings) Phonebook page.

You then have to add the range of IP addresses that will be allowed to access the directory. So if you know that your phone’s IP addresses are all in the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet, just click on the small “+” icon and enter “192.168.1.0/24”, then save.

Once this is done, on your phone, just click on the “remote directory” function key and you’ll be able to do a search in the XiVO directory from it.

Searched directories

A search started from a phone returns results only from the directories mapped to the labels assigned to the phone’s user, exactly like a search made from the UC Assistant.

The mapping between directories and labels is configured from the Webi, see Directories by labels.

If the phone’s user has no assigned label, or if none of its labels is mapped to a directory, the search falls back to the directories configured as default sources (see lookup_by_labels).

Note

Phones that were provisioned before the upgrade keep working: the previous profile-based directory URLs are still served. Phones which display a search form served by XiVO (e.g. Snom, Aastra, Cisco) start using labels as soon as XiVO is upgraded, with no reprovisioning. Phones which query the search URL directly (e.g. Yealink, Thomson) start using labels once their provisioning plugin has been upgraded and the phone has fetched its configuration again.
